The Food Processing Suppliers Association (FPSA) today announced that its Meat Industry Suppliers Alliance Foundation (MISAF) raised a record-setting amount of $131,000 on Thursday, March 19th during the Foundation Banquet and Auction held at the FPSA Annual Conference at the Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, California. These funds are used to support the MISA Foundation’s Scholarship Program for deserving students studying meat sciences at universities throughout North America.

“We couldn’t be more proud of our members for their commitment to the MISA Foundation and their dedicated support for our scholarship program,” said Tom Hoffmann, Chairman of the MISA Foundation. “The results of this year’s auction were achieved through a significant increase in both donations and the enthusiastic participation on the part of FPSA members.”

“This year, the MISA Foundation will be issuing seven $10,000 scholarships and the application period will run through May 1st,” said FPSA President and CEO David Seckman. “because of this program, it has been our honor to assist some of the industry’s most promising students to achieve their educational goals and ultimately, guide them towards a career in the meat industry.”

The Meat Industry Suppliers Alliance is governed by an all-volunteer board of directors who take an active role in the review and selection of scholarship winners. For more information on the Meat Industry Supplier Alliance contact David Seckman at 703-663-1200 or dseckman@fpsa.org.
