Butterball LLC announces the recent expansion of the United States Cold Storage facility in Warsaw, N.C. to help meet the growing need for Butterball and value added products.

The state-of-the-art facility, which serves as Butterball’s southeast distribution center, will handle more than 600 million pounds of product annually for the company.

“The Warsaw storage expansion is no surprise given the need to meet a growing consumer demand,” said Butterball Senior Director of Logistics Daniel DiGrazio. “We’re all very excited to expand our growing relationship at a USCS facility that embraces deploying best-in-class warehouse management systems, yard management systems and several other attributes to maximize efficiencies.”

The Warsaw expansion includes a newly constructed 145,000-square-foot cold storage warehouse and distribution facility on 45 acres of land. The fully racked facility is equipped with 65-foot refrigerated docks and convertible storage rooms, each with flexible storage temperature controls. The facility utilizes advanced CO2 refrigeration systems, LED lighting, the latest in site security, to include surveillance systems for increased security, and cutting edge fire suppression technology.

United States Cold Storage is vital to Butterball’s rapid growth as it offers improved efficiencies resulting in a growing customer base. Advanced warehouse management systems, yard management tools for trucks and a prime site location contributes to an efficient plant-to-store process.

United States Cold Storage, the third largest cold storage provider in the world, provides storage for Butterball in other locations around the U.S. The original storage space opened in 1997 to store Carolina Turkeys before it acquired Butterball. The expansion compliments five strategically located distribution centers throughout the U.S.
