LAKE LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The North American Meat Processors Association (NAMP) this past weekend elected Michael Strauss of Colorado Boxed Beef Co. as president.

Outgoing president Mark Shuket of Old World Provisions will assume the role of chairman of the trade association.

“With a membership consisting of the top meat processors in the U.S. and Canada, NAMP is an organization uniquely well-suited to meeting those challenges. I plan to work hard to further the goals and enhance the growing reputation of a very active organization whose members are the best center-of-the-plate specialists from all across North America,” Strauss said as he accepted the role following the association’s annual meeting on Saturday.

Gary Malenke of Sioux-Preme Pork Products will serve as vice president. Bobby Hatoff of Allen Brothers Inc. was named treasurer and Jeff Saval of Deli Brands of America, will serve on the executive committee as assistant treasurer.

During the closing dinner, Brent Cator of Cardinal Meat Specialists Ltd. accepted the Chair’s award and Jim Kenny of Urner Barry was presented with the Program Committee award.
