John Bean Technologies Corp., which acquired the assets of USA Sales & Automation, LLC last September, continues to manufacture and improve U.S. slicer designs and integrate the systems with its line of portioning equipment. As part of the efforts to provide seamless customer support, the Gallatin, Tenn. facility’s current manufacturing and engineering activities will be relocated to JBT FoodTech in Sandusky, Ohio. The customer service, sales and applications support will move to the JBT FoodTech facility in Kennesaw, Ga. The changes will be effective March 1, 2009.

“The move will streamline operations in a way that ultimately benefits customers looking for maximum efficiency,” according to Steve Smith, general manager for the JBT Food Solution and Services Division in North America. “The integration of the Gallatin operation will strengthen JBT FoodTech’s horizontal slicing position and will further enhance our integrated protein processing solutions, including the portioning, coating, cooking and freezing of meat, seafood and poultry products.”

At the International Poultry Exhibition in Atlanta, JBT FoodTech showcased some of the recent enhancements to horizontal slicing technology, including the DSI Adaptive Slicer and DSI Consistent Thickness Slicer, and how they can be integrated with the company’s portioning systems.
