Larson Electronics’ Lxlite.com releases explosion-proof LED emergency light

October 16, 2012

Larson Electronics' LXlite.com has announced the addition of a Class 1 Division 2 emergency LED light designed to provide failsafe lighting operation in the event of power failures within hazardous locations. The Halp-emg-48-2l-led emergency LED light provides all the benefits and power of a normal explosion proof light combined with the safety and reliability of a built in battery backup system.  Two T8 style LED tube lamps included with this fixture provide a total of 5,900 lumens of crisp white light for effective illumination of work areas, walkways, storage areas, and any location where less reliable fluorescent fixtures are traditionally used. These explosion proof LED lights are designed for resistance to wet and corrosive conditions with a polyester housing reinforced with glass fiber and a poured in gasket sealing an impact resistant acrylic diffuser. Stainless steel latches provided added protection against corrosion and secure the lamp cover to the housing to prevent drips and water intrusion. Unlike standard fluorescent lights, these LED lamp equipped fixtures contain no ballasts, making them lighter and more reliable. These particular units are also fitted with an integral backup battery and automatic charging system. During normal operation the fixture operates from standard 120-277 VAC current. In the event of a power failure, the fixture automatically switches to the battery backup system which will power a single lamp for a safety standards required minimum of 90 minutes. Once power has been restored, the unit automatically recharges the onboard battery, thus keeping the unit ready for emergency operation at all times. The Halp-emg-48-2l-led emergency LED light is ideal for use in hazardous locations where corrosive and wet conditions are commonly encountered including oil platforms, marinas, chemical plants, water treatment plants, and petrochemical processing facilities.

“This marine grade, UL rated Class 1 Division 2 LED emergency backup fixture is features instant on illumination, displaying no warm up times, and provides up to 90 minutes of backup illumination during a power outage,” said Robert Bresnahan of LXLite.com. “This impact and vibration resistant LED fixture is able to withstand hazardous environments while being multi-voltage capable, supplied by a 120-277 volt AC power supply.”

Larson Electronics’ Lxlite.com produces a wide range of intrinsically safe LED lights, explosion proof LED work lights, portable LED light towers, explosion proof flashlights and LED trouble lights. The Larson Electronics family of brands can be found on Magnalight.com, LXFlashlights.com and LXLite.com.
