Skidmore Sales and Distributing Company, Inc. is proud to announce that its West Chester, Ohio facility has received Safe Quality Food (SQF) Level 2 Certification as both a food manufacturer and distributor.

SQF certification assures that the food products consumers are buying have passed rigorous international standards for food safety and quality, including HACCP.  SQF is the only certification program outside Europe recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), which links primary production certification to food manufacturing, distribution and agent/broker management certification.

“The SQF program is a comprehensive, accredited food safety management assessment tool that responsible companies employ in order to protect their product’s value,” said Robert Garfield, senior vice president of the Safe Quality Food Institute. “SQF promotes a culture of food safety that starts with senior-level management,” said Robert Garfield, Sr. Vice President, Safe Quality Food Institute.”

“We chose the SQF certification over other food safety certification programs because of the inclusion of quality and continuous improvements as key tenants in its program.  Our desk audit took place in early August and the subsequent facility audit occurred last September.  Earning this certification took a lot of work on everyone’s part, but we know it will be well worth the effort by enabling us to prove our due diligence in food safety matters and help improve the marketability of our customer’s products,” said Doug Skidmore, president.
