The plant, which makes pepperoni and salami, had 480 employees. Positions cut reportedly include in slicing, sausage manufacturing and stuffing, shipping, sanitation and warehouse.
Tyson decided to make the cuts because some of the equipment at the plant was damaged and it wasn't feasible to put in new equipment, said Mark Odom, vice president of operations for Tyson Prepared Foods, reportedly said in a statement Monday.
