BPI has announced that it will start collecting fresh beef trimmings at its Garden City, Kansas location, with an anticipated start date of August 18th. The raw material collection is to support BPI’s current Dakota City, Nebraska production operations.
The Garden City facility, which was closed in 2012 after a consumer backlash against lean finely trimmed beef, will be operating two shifts of fresh beef trimmings collection to run in conjunction with Tyson’s production operations. There will also be a third shift for CIP (cleaning). BPI anticipates hiring 40 to 45 full-time employees.
