The 17th Annual Food Safety Summit went on as scheduled at the Baltimore Convention Center this week. Over 1,200 food safety professionals from around the world convened to discuss the most pressing issues facing the food industry including Food Fraud, the Food Safety Modernization Act, and the Integration of the Nation's Food Safety Systems. The event kicked off on Monday, April 27th with two successful certification programs for HACCP and Seafood HACCP.
"With so many attendees in town for the Food Safety Summit we worked closely with the Baltimore Convention Center and City Officials to determine if we should move forward with the event after the unrest in the city Monday night," said Scott Wolters, Event Director. "After careful consideration and several discussions with city officials, members of the Summit's Educational Advisory Board and our exhibitors we decided to open the event on Tuesday morning as scheduled. When we saw the participation and support our attendees demonstrated throughout the event, I knew we made the right call."
