PERDUE HARVESTLAND introduces organic chicken in foodservice

Perdue Foodservice is proud to launch PERDUE HARVESTLAND USDA Certified Organic Fresh and Frozen Chicken. Since introducing NO ANTIBIOTICS EVER products, Perdue has been leading the way in powerful advantage-driven poultry claims, such as “no antibiotics ever” and “all-vegetarian-fed,” while earning praise from consumer and public interest groups across the country. Following the recent announcement that the company is now raising more than half of its chicken with no antibiotics of any kind, Perdue continues to lead the way by offering free-range, USDA Certified Organic chicken in the foodservice channel.

USDA Certified Organic means the birds are raised in a free-range environment on certified organic farms, fed an organic non-GMO grain diet* with no animal by-products and never, ever given antibiotics. This new launch will help operators satisfy patrons, especially as consumer demand for organically produced goods has shown double-digit growth in recent years.1

Menu transparency is nothing new these days. Operators know that consumers expect high-quality ingredients and understand the impact this can have on their bottom line. This is especially true when it comes to protein. The majority of foodservice consumers say that the availability of poultry without antibiotics or hormones is important in their decision to visit a restaurant.2

With new HARVESTLAND Organic Chicken, operators have the opportunity to boost sales, since studies show that 63% of consumers would pay more for higher-quality poultry.2 Additionally, 67% of consumers believe organic poultry is healthier.3 Premium menu claims also help operators drive traffic and differentiate from competitors. Fifty-four percent of millennials and 55% of Gen X consumers say they would be more likely to visit a restaurant if organic chicken was included on the menu.3

“We’re excited to introduce an organic product to the foodservice space and lead the way by providing product attributes that consumers have been asking about for years,” said Doug Wickman, vice president of foodservice marketing and business development. “We’ve already received great feedback from the HARVESTLAND NO ANTIBIOTICS EVER line and look forward to working with operators to introduce HARVESTLAND Organic Chicken to their customers. Organic offerings provide a clearly defined set of powerful advantage-driven menu attributes that consumers want and are willing to pay more for today.”

Perdue continues to be an industry leader in the high-quality proteins that today’s consumers desire, while meeting the demand for sustainability and social responsibility. HARVESTLAND Organic Frozen Chicken is available nationwide in the following formats: whole bird, boneless skinless breast and boneless skinless thighs. HARVESTLAND Organic Fresh Chicken is available in select Eastern markets in those same formats.

For a limited time, operators can save up to $250 on HARVESTLAND Organic Frozen Chicken products. To download the rebate, visit PerdueFoodservice.com/Rebates.
