Reciprocal Meat Conference starts with record turnout
The American Meat Science Association greeted over 750 total attendees at the opening session of the Reciprocal Meat Conference at Kansas State University Monday morning. “It was a record turnout, the largest RMC ever,” said Executive Director Dr. Thomas Powell. “Over 300 students from the top schools in America and 450 people from academia, the industry and government registered for our three general sessions and four concurrent symposia.”
Monday’s General Session featuring a keynote address by Penn State’s Dr. John Floros, focused on Sustainability. Tuesday’s Food Safety Session began with a keynote address by Frank Yiannis, Vice President of Food Safety for Wal-mart. The third session will begin with an International Lecture, “Working in a World of Meat Color,” by Dr. Melvin Hunt of Kansas State University on Wednesday.
