In recent years, we have actually begun to see a decline in the number of foodborne-illnesses outbreaks. The food industry has worked tirelessly and ingeniously to ensure that our food is safer than ever. In spite of that, we still see large numbers of foodborne illness in the United States. The reasons for this are complex and multitudinous.
One reason is simply that we eat things that were once living. That may be overstating the obvious, but the fact in itself lends itself to a host of issues, which contribute to human disease.
