The American Meat Science Association (AMSA) announced the F.C. Parrish Jr. Mentor Recognition on June 19th at the AMSA 66th RMC held at Auburn University. The mentor recognition fund will be used to support student activities. The AMSA Foundation was established in 2001 by the membership of the American Meat Science Association, the Foundation's mission is to generate and allocate resources to support and enhance educational programs and the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge in meat science.
Frederick C. Parrish, Jr., was a University Professor at Iowa State University. He served as a faculty member from 1965-2001. He served the Department of Animal Science as well as the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. Dr. Parrish taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Animal Science (over 5000 students), coached the Intercollegiate Meats Judging Team from 1976-2000, and directed thesis research for over 30 graduate students.
