Sugar Creek Packing Co. selects Junction Solutions and Microsoft Dynamics AX

July 23, 2010

Junction Solutions, a provider of vertical market-specific software applications and services built in Microsoft Dynamics AX, announced that Sugar Creek Packing Co., a leading global provider of bacon products and additional food categories for foodservice and retail, has selected Junction Solutions to deliver JunctionF/B, its end-to-end solution sets for the food and beverage industries. The solution will be implemented with Microsoft Dynamics AX.

Sugar Creek, an Ohio-based manufacturer of bacon as well as custom and pre-packaged food products, was founded nearly 45 years ago. The global provider is moving from large production runs to smaller, more specialized foods and ready-to-eat meals. Sugar Creek operates six facilities in three states, featuring state-of-the-art processing, cooking, packaging and assembly systems.

“Like many established companies, Sugar Creek was using a collection of older software systems which weren’t necessarily connected throughout the enterprise,” said Christian Hutter, vice president, Food and Beverage Practice, Junction Solutions. “JunctionF/B will provide the operational transparency they need to better manage their business processes and control operational costs as they also upgrade and standardize their ERP platform.”

The Junction Solutions team will work with Sugar Creek to implement the JunctionF/B solution set as well as the Trade Promotion Management (TPM) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) Scheduler modules. The solution will allow Sugar Creek to achieve complete visibility into data such as cost-of-goods sold, real-time inventory levels and production and packaging schedules.

The TPM module will specifically enable Sugar Creek to better track and manage trade promotion program payments and spending. The GA Scheduler will provide Sugar Creek with the ability to streamline its scheduling processes and access real-time order and production completion data.

“As Sugar Creek evolved into a global food company, we knew we needed a software solution specifically designed to deal with perishable, fast-moving products and which will allow us to quickly respond to changing market conditions or consumer preference,” said Randy Silberman, corporate controller, Sugar Creek. “The team at Junction Solutions demonstrated their knowledge of our industry and its unique challenges. In addition, the standardization on Microsoft, along with the added capability of the Junction Solution software, will provide us with the ability to meet our business objectives.”
