2023 Equipment Manufacturers Conference

This annual event, planned and hosted by AFIA’s Equipment Manufacturers Committee, focuses on updating the equipment sector of the feed industry on current issues and trends, providing an environment for learning from educational speakers and industry leaders, and brings the industry together to network. Conference attendees include equipment manufacturers, equipment installers, contractors and users of the equipment from the feed manufacturing sector.

It hosts an annual golf tournament to raise scholarship funds, which are distributed through the Institute for Feed Education and Research (IFEEDER). All proceeds after expenses from the conference support the Equipment Manufacturers Scholarship Fund.

2023 Liquid Feed Symposium

Planned and hosted by AFIA's Liquid Feed Committee, this is the only event nationwide that focuses on the liquid feed industry, from current issues to growth to education and development. The event has been running for more than 45 years and is designed to educate and promote all segments of the liquid feed industry, including manufacturers, nutritionists, equipment manufacturers, sales and marketing, and additional industry support companies. Typically, the symposium also inducts someone into the Liquid Feed Hall of Fame and administers the Kenny Berg Research and Education fund, which is housed within IFEEDER. Members can also see the liquid feed handbook and past LFS proceedings on the member website.

FSMA PCQI Training

The American Feed Industry Association is hosting a Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance Preventive Controls (FSPCA) for Animal Food training. Attendees will receive a FSPCA PCQI certificate after completion of the course. 

The training was developed by the FSPCA and is the “standardized curriculum” the Food and Drug Administration recognizes as adequate for PCQI training. Successfully completing this course is one way to meet the requirements for a PCQI.

In recent times, our industry has been guarding against the potential threat of African swine fever and dealing with several outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza. It is apparent that biosecurity is a constant need, not just a one and done plan. The American Feed Industry Association’s Nutrition Committee is hosting a program on this topic in conjunction with the 2023 International Production & Processing Expo, taking place Jan. 24-26. AFIA Feed Education Program

The American Feed Industry Association’s production compliance committee is hosting the annual free Feed Production Education program again in 2023. As regulatory requirements for the feed industry continue to evolve, this training session will update participants on any recent changes from several federal agencies including DOL, DOT, EPA, FDA and OSHA as well as a presentation on the importance of a written pandemic policy. In addition, the 2022 Commercial Dry Mill Feed Mill of the Year will be announced.
