WASHINGTON – The American Meat Institute (AMI), Food Marketing Institute (FMI) and United Fresh Produce Association will present a series of workshops in August to explain how to comply with country-of-origin labeling (COOL) laws.

The laws are set to go into effect on Sept. 30, 2008.

The workshops will be held on August 12 at the Four Points Sheraton, Baltimore; August 13 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare, Chicago; and August 14 at the Wyndam Hotel, San Jose, Calif. The goal of the workshops is to provide retailers and suppliers an opportunity to sit and learn about the new laws and how to implement them.

Attendees will reportedly hear directly from U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) experts who’ve written the regulations, get direct answers to questions and will have the opportunity to talk with industry legal and business experts about compliance with the law and supply chain efficiency.

Registration is $195 and space is limited.
