Magnalight.com introduces explosion-proof emergency lighting system with illuminated exit sign

October 18, 2012

Magnalight by Larson Electronics announced the release of the EXP-EMG-EXT-12W-2L Explosion Proof Emergency Light with Exit Sign that provides 90 minutes of light and exit sign operation in the event of power failures. This emergency lighting system is Class 1 Division 1, Class 2 Division 1 & 2 approved and provides the fail safe operation needed in industrial environments in order to comply with all safety and hazardous location regulations while providing the highest emergency lighting reliability possible.

The EXP-EMG-EXT-12W-2L explosion proof emergency light with exit sign from Magnalight.com is equipped an LED powered globe lamp, a single exit sign, and a high performance Nickel-Cadmium battery pack to produce a failsafe lighting solution for hazardous locations where compliance with  Life Safety Code standards is required. This combination emergency light and exit sign provides a highly visible light signal that automatically switches to emergency battery backup operation once normal power is abnormally cut. A single 6 watt LED lamp and an LED illuminated exit sign provide excellent light output while requiring less current than incandescent lamps, resulting in a highly reliable emergency lighting system that will operate for 90 minutes on battery power in the event of power failures. The included Nickel-Cadmium battery has a 7-10 year rated operational life and is recharged automatically during normal operation. The EXP-EMG-EXT-12W-2L is rated for Class 1 Division 1 & 2 and Class 2 Division 1 & 2 locations and gives operators in hazardous location the provide their workers with the most reliable safety lighting options available. During normal conditions this Magnalight explosion proof emergency lighting system operates on standard 120/277VAC current. In the event of a power failure, the unit switches to its internal battery and will run at full brightness for 90 minutes or until normal power returns. Built in charge control circuitry keeps the battery at full power at all times and prevents the battery from becoming overcharged or excessively depleted, thus ensuring maximum battery life. This unit is also fitted with an integral test switch and indicator light, which makes it easy to visually confirm the unit is operating properly. This explosion proof LED emergency light is constructed of copper free aluminum and powder coated for resistance to corrosion. This LED light is very low maintenance, the lamps have a 50,000 hour rated operational life, and all operation is automatic.

“During power outages, this explosion proof led light illuminates the light heads and exit sign for 90 minutes, clearly identifying exit locations to all occupants in case of emergency,” said Robert Bresnahan of Larson Electronics LLC Magnalight.com. “The ability to automatically switch from normal power of 120 to 277 VAC to battery back-up in hazardous areas during power outages is a design fit for any hazardous location.”

Larson Electronics’ Magnalight.com carries an extensive line of explosion proof LED lights, hazardous location LED lights, intrinsically safe LED lights, LED work lights and LED general area work lights.
