The International Poultry Expo will attract attendees from around the world

Thousands of poultry and egg industry professionals are making their way to Atlanta to talk turkey — and chicken, and egg, and everything else related to the poultry industry. The International Poultry Expo (IPE), the world’s largest trade show in the poultry and egg industry, will take place from January 25-27 at the Georgia World Congress Center. The show is sponsored by the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY).
New technology, equipment, supplies, and services used in the production and processing of poultry and eggs will be displayed. Last year’s show saw 834 exhibitors fill more than 16 acres of display area. All segments of the industry are represented, including feed milling, hatchery, live production, processing, further processing, marketing, and all support activities.
Last year’s IPE show had 18,763 attendees, a 3.4-percent increase from the previous year. A number of those attendees were among the top executives in the poultry industry.
Education and entertainment
One of the most informative components of the IPE is the educational program, which will be held on Thursday, January 26. There will be a number of speakers presenting on various topics, including Animal Welfare in the Poultry Industry; The Salmonella Challenge in Poultry Processing; Antibiotic Use in Poultry, and The Future of Worker Availability. The seminars are free to anyone who has registered for the show.
USPOULTRY also is planning a free Export Seminar on Tuesday, January 25. The two-part program is designed to assist companies that want to boost their bottom line by expanding globally. The first session, “Strategies and Resources for Going International,” will cover export assistance programs, market-entry strategies, and free-trade agreements. “U.S. Poultry & Egg Exports: Exportation Without Subsidization” will feature two representatives from the U.S. Poultry & Egg Export Council who will talk about how U.S. exports are competitive in the world because of the U.S. competitive advantage over many other countries, not because of export subsidies.
With all the education sessions to attend and booths to visit, attendees need some time to relax as well. USPOULTRY has provided for that as well, teaming with the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, two professional sports teams, and several area restaurants and attractions. NP
