Sara Lee names Foran to general counsel

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. – Sara Lee Corp. on Wednesday announced that it had appointed Margaret M. Foran to executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective June 30, 2008.

The company said that Foran, 53, will have responsibility for the company’s worldwide legal activities. She will also lead Sara Lee’s global business practices, risk management, internal audit and insurance activities, as well as environmental, safety and sustainability efforts. She will report to Brenda C. Barnes, chairman and CEO.

“We’re delighted that Peggy will be joining our executive team,” said Barnes. “During her three-decade long career, Peggy has earned the respect of corporate leaders, stakeholders, directors, investors and peers. She is recognized worldwide as a true leader with a reputation for the highest levels of personal integrity.”

Foran most recently served as senior vice president, associate general counsel and corporate secretary for Pfizer Inc., the company said.
