DuPont Qualicon and Food Quality Magazine presented Hormel Foods Corp. as the winner of the 2006 Food Quality Award during the Food Safety & Security Summit in Washington D.C. Hormel was selected for the award because of its innovative technologies for reducing pathogens and preservatives in sliced meats, Hormel joins past winners such as Beef Products Inc., SYSCO Corp. and Tyson Foods.
Carroll Manufacturing & Sales has earned an AIB Certificate of Achievement after a thorough food packaging and processing safety audit by the American Institute of Baking. Scoring well on an AIB audit demonstrates to the food processing industry that a supplier complies with rigorous regulatory standards, specifications and requirements and is committed to providing safe, high-quality products to consumers. CMS received an Excellent rating for the audit.
Marel Group has unveiled its new identity as Marel Food Systems, continuing its efforts to become a world provider of food processing technology. Marel Food Systems is a unified sales and service branch for its four main brands: AEW Delford, Carnitech, Marel and Scanvaegt. The company has experienced fast growth in the past year, with the acquisition of AEW Delford in the United Kingdom and Scanvaegt in Denmark. The new name reflects the changes from the additions.

Wixon Inc. is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Wixon Spice Co. started with Charles Franklin Wixon selling his spices from a pushcart in downtown Chicago in 1907. The company now has a plant of several buildings on a campus covering more than 300,000 square feet of manufacturing, R&D facilities, packaging, warehousing and administrative operations. It has more than 200 employees and annual sales of more than $50 million.
The organizers of the 2008 International Poultry Expo and International Feed Expo have decided to include two special pavilions at the show to highlight the latest in resource innovation. The new program, Eco-Innovation, will spotlight issues such as using poultry litter for fertilizer or fuel, using poultry fat as bio-fuel, wastewater recycling and high-efficiency motors and equipment.
