Techs in the City

The Institute of Food Technologists’ annual expo will focus on the issues of today while showcasing the food industry’s latest products.
Although the average high temperature in New Orleans, LA, during July is 91°F, there is one can’t-miss way to beat the heat: Attend the 2005 Institute of Food Technologists Annual Meeting + Food Expo®.
The IFT Expo, which is scheduled for July 16 to 20 at the air-conditioned Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, LA, will host approximately 20,000 attendees and more than 800 exhibiting companies. The show is the largest annual scientific forum and food technology expo in the world and will attract food scientists, technologists, suppliers, marketers, and others from around the globe.
IFT annual meeting
The annual meeting will begin with a keynote address from Malcolm Gladwell, author of The Tipping Point. His new book, Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking, analyzes intuition and explores how people can improve their instincts for good decision-making.
More than 100 technical sessions will take place during the show, answering food challenges of today while predicting the trials of tomorrow. More than 1,000 experts will provide their insights in these sessions, which will cover a wide range of topics, from food safety to new processing methods to the nutritional aspects of new food products.
Meanwhile, the International Food Safety & Quality Conference, will take place on Wednesday, July 20. The focus of this one-day event will be on challenges to international trade.
IFT Food Expo
The IFT Expo will take place from July 17 to 19. Exhibitors will utilize more than 250,000 square feet of exhibition space to present their latest innovations designed to make food more fun, functional, nutritious, appealing, and accessible to all.  NP
