Formax Maxum700 delivers a dependable forming solution

The Maxum700 forming system from Formax, a Provisur Technologies brand, incorporates servo-powered mold plate and knockout drives to ensure smooth operation at rates of up to 120 strokes per minute or 10,000 lbs. (4,536 kg) per hour raw weight. The servo-drives provide complete control over the motions of the mold plate to maximize quality of a wide range of products.

The Maxum700 yields exacting portion control, a high level of food safety, greater productivity and reduces maintenance costs. Most important is the system’s robust servo-mold plate drive. Featuring a drive system with a minimal number of moving parts, dependable operation is assured. Among other exclusive design features is a product hopper that tilts 90° without disassembling major parts and at the touch of a button offers clear access to the conveyor, feed screws and plungers; a conveyor assembly that pivots with the product hopper, facilitating belt removal and thorough washdowns.

A one-piece, stainless-steel pump box with rigid design, results in a flat, true running surface that keeps tooling components precisely aligned while reducing mold plate drive loads and the opportunity for product leakage. The hopper pivot can be placed on either the right or left side of the machine.

“By incorporating one Maxum700 with STS shuttle, Nashville achieved the higher productivity, quality and savings we specified and required,” says Paul Britt, Complex Manager, Tyson Foods Nashville, Ark., whose facility installed this technology shortly after its launch.

A full complement of operating and diagnostic screens facilitates machine operation, maintenance and troubleshooting. Adjustments to operating parameters, including the mold plate and knock-out cup motion, can be made on the run to optimize product quality.

“The decision to purchase the Maxum700 came down to the higher productivity and lower cost of ownership we secured with Formax, and they went above and beyond what one would expect in start-up, training, service and follow-ups for satisfaction,” Britt concludes.

The Maxum700 is part of an exclusive Formax forming-technology line that includes the NovaMax500, VerTex1000, F-400 and the F-6. Combined, this cutting-edge technology is transforming the Meat and Poultry industry.
