Agriprocessors returning to production

POSTVILLE, Iowa – Agriprocessors Inc. in Postville, Iowa, where 400 workers were arrested on immigration charges, has restored much of its production.

The plant was reportedly the world’s biggest kosher meatpacking plant before the raid last month.

Menachem Lubinsky, a consultant for the plant, said the plant’s managers told him they've brought in many new workers. He said the plant is back to nearly 70 percent of its pre-raid production of chicken and turkey.

Lubinsky said that beef production has been more difficult to restore because of the higher skill set needed by workers.
