Lohmann Animal Health International has begun construction on a new Research & Development Center. The 9,000-square foot Research & Development Center will provide offices and laboratories for research & development for virology, bacteriology, tissue culture, molecular biology, fermentation, serology, necropsy, and seed preparation.

Work on the center is scheduled to be completed in December. It is the final phase of the $8.8 million expansion that began in 2008.

“Our new Research & Development Center provides needed laboratory space,” Lohmann Animal Health International CEO Dave Zacek said. “The overall multi-million dollar expansion has given us greater research and production capacity to meet the increased industry demands for Lohmann vaccines.”

The Animal Service Administration Center and the Biological Production Center were the first two buildings completed. The Animal Service Administration Center serves as the focal point for managing all bird testing, both for release of product serials and new product development and the Biological Production Center gave Lohmann the space needed to expand production of bacterial vaccines by at least five times the previous capacity.
