Butterball LLC named Jay Jandrain as the company’s executive vice president of sales and Bill Klump as chief marketing officer effective May 19, 2014. Jandrain and Klump succeed Kerry Doughty, who was recently named president and chief executive officer of the Butterball organization May 5, 2014.

In his new role, Jandrain will be responsible for sales in the food service, retail and export channels as well as product research and development, customer service, and integrated business strategy. As CMO, Klump will be responsible for overall brand strategy, consumer communication and public relations. In addition, Klump will continue his role in driving brand advertising, consumer promotion, product innovation and consumer insights for consumer packaged goods, deli and seasonal products.

“Both Jay and Bill are committed to the Butterball brand and have the breadth of experience that make them excellent selections for these roles,” said Doughty. “Butterball customers, consumers and associates will benefit from their leadership, energy and customer-centric approach.”

Jandrain joined Butterball in May of 2002 as the director of product research and development. Since that time, he has held roles of increasing responsibility including vice president of deli sales, vice president of product research and development, and vice president of integrated business strategy. Jandrain has held multiple sales, marketing and R&D management positions within food service and retail channels at other protein companies such as Cargill and Plantation Foods.

“The Butterball team is talented, ambitious and full of potential,” said Jandrain. “Together, we will turn opportunities into even bigger success stories. My 12 years of experience with the company tells me that the Butterball brand is thriving, so we will continue to position the organization as an innovative leader within the poultry category and drive new business through enhanced customer service and a dynamic sales organization.”

Klump boasts more than 30 years of consumer packaged goods experience. Notable leadership roles with companies such as Sara Lee, ConAgra Foods and Chiquita Brands-John Morrell International have honed his ability to grow and build consumer brands. Klump also joined Butterball in 2002 while working for ConAgra Foods and transitioned to Butterball, LLC in 2006 when the brand was sold to Smithfield Foods and Maxwell Farms, forming Butterball, LLC. Klump serves on several committees for the National Turkey Federation and serves as the current chairman of the board for the International Deli-Diary-Bakery Association. Prior to his role as CMO, Klump was the senior vice president of corporate marketing.

“Butterball is one of the best brands in the protein industry, hands down,” said Klump. “It is powerful. Consumers trust it for Thanksgiving and every day, and Butterball is poised for continued growth. I’m excited to serve as Butterball’s CMO, and we will continue to expand the brand into different day parts by capitalizing on its well-developed brand equity.”

Responsibilities associated with Jandrain’s former role as vice president of research and development will be assigned in short order.
