Dickson Company has revamped an online instrument selection system in its new web site at www.dicksondata.com. The site offers the widest variety of temperature and humidity monitoring instrumentation available to worldwide meatpacking managers. Highlights of the site include automated selection guides, links, one-click connections, user-friendly enrollment and streamlined shopping cart and checkout procedures.
Hawkins Inc. has announced an agreement to acquire New Jersey-based Trumark Inc., maker and marketer of antimicrobial agents. The acquisition is meant to enhance research and development activities and add scale and territory while complementing product offerings. Minneapolis-based Hawkins provides products and equipment to safely dispense chemicals in controlled environments.
Swisslog has purchased Accalon, a leading manufacturer of conveyor systems and stacker cranes for warehouses and distribution centers, for an undisclosed sum. The primary goal of the acquisition is to improve the competitiveness in the market segment for less complex projects. The acquisition will advance the production of conveyor systems in China where Accalon already has a manufacturing site. Swisslog also expects the realization of synergies in the Scandinavian customer support business.
Georgia-Pacific has launched its Packaging Systems Optimization™ microsite, built to help customers reduce total packaging costs while achieving greater sustainability with a short lead time. The site also offers the PSO Calculator, a web-based tool that quickly estimates potential sustainability improvements. PolyConversions Inc. has announced their rebranding as PolyCo. The company has also launched comprehensive branding initiative to support our innovative protective solutions mission. The new name has been incorporated into their web address at www.PolyCo.com. PolyCo produces plastic reusable and disposable film and film products manufactured to protect people in the food processing and industrial environments.
Alcan Packaging Food Americas has completed the expansion of its Neenah Technical Center in Neenah, Wis. The $1 million expansion of the 115,000 square-foot facility has consolidated Alcan’s Customer Service teams with the existing Research & Development organization. The investment was designed to create needed space for R&D, an Innovation Center, and to centralize customer service for most of Alcan Packaging Food Americas’ North American operations.
Wixon Inc., a 100-year-old food ingredients and product development company of Wisconsin, has won an IQ (Innovative Quotient) Award from the Wisconsin Technology Council and the Small Business Times, a southeastern Wisconsin business publication. The award honors ten of the most innovative companies in the southeastern Wisconsin region. Wixon won for its creation and development of its Mag-nifique line of flavor technologies. The line consists of a series of masking agents, flavor enhancers, and flavor modifiers that allow food companies to remove unwanted or undesirable ingredients such as fats, sugars, and sodium, without removing the desired tastes, consistencies, mouthfeel, texture and other desired attributes.
FKI Logistex®, a producer of integrated material handling solutions, announced that U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson visited the company’s St. Louis manufacturing plant and North American headquarters on Friday, May 11, to promote the value of an open, global economy. The secretary’s visit followed a joint announcement by Paulson and President George W. Bush that the Bush administration is actively seeking more direct foreign investment in the United States.
Silliker, Inc. honored 10 distribution centers with its 2006 “Audit Platinum Award.” The award is presented annually to companies receiving the highest scores in Silliker Distribution Center Audits. This year’s honorees include Golden State Foods - Lexington, S.C.; Golden State Foods - Rochester, N.Y.; Golden State Foods - Greensboro, N.C.; Metroplex Distributors - Harriman, N.Y.; SYGMA Network, Inc. - Westborough, Mass.; Tree of Life – Kennesaw, Ga., and Tree of Life – Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. This year marks the five-year anniversary of the award program.
Sealed Air’s Cryovac® brand won two awards for “Excellence in Flexography” in the mid web-film-process print category from the Foundation of Flexographic Technical Association (FFTA). The awards were presented on Tuesday, May 8 at FFTA’s 2007 Annual Forum & INFO*FLEX Exhibition in Montreal, QC, Canada. Sealed Air’s winning entries were printed in its Rochester, N.Y. facility for Schweigert’s Willow Brook honey mustard wings, which received a silver award in the category, and Willow Brook buffalo style hot wings, which received a gold award in the category and Best of Show award for its category.
