CSB-System
 has named Mark Eby of San Diego California as the new executive of Data Capturing and EDI implementations. Eby will oversee Barcoding and EDI objectives to connect CSB’s customers with their partners. He was previously CSB’s vice president of the North American division. CSB-System is a provider of solutions for process manufacturers in Food and Beverage sectors. CSB currently has over 1,200 food and beverage customers worldwide. The company has approximately 450 professionals in over 30 countries.
Lonnie “Bo” Pilgrim, senior chairman of Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation, was elected an Honorary Life Member of the National Chicken Council Board of Directors at the board meeting held in conjunction with the recent NCC Annual Conference, as a tribute to his many years of service to the industry and to NCC. NCC’s rules require that an Honorary Life Member must have served on the board for at least 20 years and has “contributed time and service above and beyond that normally expected of a director.” Honorary life members may attend board meetings and enjoy all the privileges of membership except for voting power. Because of its size, Pilgrim’s Pride has three voting members on the board. The award was accepted on Pilgrim’s behalf by his son, Lonnie Ken Pilgrim, the company’s chairman. The National Chicken Council represents integrated chicken producer-processors.
Mark A. Haskins, founder, president and CEO of MBA Poultry, has announced his retirement from day-to-day operations of the country’s air-chilled chicken producer. His departure from the daily operations of MBA will be effective December 31st of this year. Haskins will still be involved in special projects with the family-run company. He also intends to offer consultancy to the arena of international poultry organizations. Haskins founded MBA Poultry in 1998 naming the company after his three children, Mark Jr., Bridget and Amber.
The PMMI membership elected four new members to the PMMI board of directors, and the board assigned Executive Committee roles for the coming year. The election took place this morning at the Chairman’s Report business session of PMMI’s Annual Meeting, held November 12–14. The following executives will serve four-year terms beginning January 1, 2008: Jack Aguero, VP Business Development & Marketing, Pro Mach, Inc.; Matt Lerner, Executive Vice President, Automated Packaging Systems, Inc.; Neal F. Nordling, President & CEO, Multifeeder Technology, Inc.; Robert M. Storms, Director of Sales & Marketing, Moen Industries. During the session, Anderson also announced PMMI’s 2008 Executive Committee: chairman, Jim Anderson, Marlen; Vice Chairman, Randy Spahr, Packaging Machines International Inc.; Past chairman, Bob Risley, Intralox Inc.
Wolf-tec, Inc. has announced the appointment of Chris Mason as vice president - sales and marketing. Mason has 32 years of industry experience most recently serving as vice president meat division for Marel Food Systems Inc., and as president of AEW Thurne Inc., a position he held since 2002. He has served on the board of directors of the American Meat Institute, as Chairman of the Meat Industry Suppliers Alliance and is currently on the board of directors of the North American Meat Processors.
Wells Lamont Industry Group has announced Steve Duffy as its new President. Prior to joining Wells Lamont, Duffy was the president and COO of Actown Electrocoil, Inc. Duffy will have responsibility for Wells Lamont Industry Group headquartered in the Niles, Ill., Jomac Canada based Stanstead, Quebec, and Procoves Industrie in Semur-En-Auxois, France. These companies hold such recognized trademarked brand names as Whizard®, Super Green King®, and Antares™.
Alcan announced that Ilene S. Gordon, president and CEO of Alcan Packaging, has been named to Fortune Magazine’s “Global Power 50,” which recognizes the most powerful women executives in international business. Gordon, 54, was named president and CEO in December 2006. She is responsible for all aspects of Alcan Packaging’s worldwide business, with 31,000 employees and 130 manufacturing facilities in 31 countries on six continents She currently serves as chair of the Flexible Packaging Association. Previously with Alcan, she served as president, Alcan Packaging Food Americas, based in Chicago. She joined the company in June 1999 as senior vice president of Pechiney Group and president, Pechiney Plastic Packaging. Alcan acquired Pechiney in December 2003.
Wixon, Inc., manufacturer of a comprehensive line of ingredients for the food and beverage industries, has promoted Mariano Gascon from flavor lab director to vice president of research and development. In his new role Gascon will direct product and food technology developments through Wixon’s staff of food technologists, flavorists, and research professionals. Since joining the company in 1997, Gascon has led the team of flavor chemists at Wixon as the flavor lab’s director. His experience in creating flavors spans nearly 18 years and includes developing numerous new products and finding ways to mask unwanted flavor notes for Wixon clients.
