Universal Pasteurization and Cold Storage (www.universalhpp.com) has announced the hiring of Melanie Galloway as Chief Executive Officer.  Galloway brings a broad range of experience to the CEO role, having worked in the food technology industry for over 12 years, most recently as Global President of Food Technologies for Kemin Industries.

As Global President of Food Technologies for Kemin Industries, she held full responsibility for Kemin’s global ingredients business with operations in the U.S., Europe, Asia, China, India and South America.  Melanie began her career at Kemin as the Business Director for North America in 2002, developing the company’s food ingredient business.  She was appointed President of Kemin Food Technologies in January 2010 and successfully grew the Food Technologies business from a start-up to a global business serving large, multinational food customers.

Prior to Kemin, Galloway worked at FMC Corporation, a global specialty chemical company focused on food and industrial applications.  At FMC, she held a variety of positions beginning with chemical sales, later promoted to a sales management role, and ultimately to product leadership over their specialty hydrogen peroxide business.

Galloway holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a B.S. in Pulp and Paper Technology from North Carolina State University, as well as an M.B.A. from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.

Jeff Barnard, Universal’s President, said, “We are thrilled to have Melanie join the Universal team. She is an extraordinary leader who brings passion, focus and a wealth of experience to Universal.  Melanie’s tremendous knowledge of food safety and technology will help us continue to meet the needs of our customers with the quality and service levels they have come to expect of Universal.”
