Universal Pasteurization Company, an industry leader in outsourced High Pressure Processing (HPP) services, announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, UPC Texas LLC, has acquired the assets of Global Leading Foods (GL Foods), a Coppell, Texas-based premier supplier of High Pressure Processing (HPP) services. The facility will provide additional HPP capacity for both current and prospective customers, and its location is strategic to Universal’s geographic expansion plans to better serve the growing market for HPP outsourcing. The new location will join Universal’s other HPP outsourcing facilities in Lincoln, NE and Villa Rica, GA.

We are extremely pleased to be able to add a Dallas-area location to our HPP service footprint,” stated Jeff Barnard, Universal’s President. “Dallas is a center of food manufacturing activity as well as a prime distribution hub.” He further stated: “HPP offers substantial benefits to processors, retailers and consumers alike, however the equipment acquisition costs and batch operational challenges make its implementation a challenge for many. Through our outsourcing approach we remove these barriers by offering a usage-based model while providing redundancy both of HPP equipment and HPP facilities. We also offer flexibility through many value-added services. This offers all companies, both large and small, access to this sophisticated technology.“

The new Dallas-area location is an excellent fit for the company,” said Curt Roberts, Universal’s Chief Operating Officer. “It has the same HPP system technology that is incorporated into the rest of our network and the team has the same customer-driven, do-what-it-takes culture that Universal is known for. Our plans are to add certifications to the facility such as SQF Level 3, install AccellosOne Warehouse Management System (WMS) and implement additional value-added services. This will serve to increase our value proposition to existing customers while helping us attract new customers to HPP outsourcing.”

The National Provisioner has featured both Universal Pasteurization Co. and GL Foods on its cover in recent years.
