Research shows consumers are looking for environmentally friendly packaging. However, they also are used to seeing a specific type of packaging for their portioned fresh meat and poultry, says Eva Almenar, a professor in the School of Packaging at Michigan State University, in East Lansing.
The Toronto-based company will be the first meat delivery service to bring the ground-breaking shipping material to Canada for its farm-to-door meat subscription boxes.
Although it dates from the 1940s, chub packaging remains a favorite for pumpable products such as ground beef, ground turkey, sausage, chorizo, salami, taco meat and pet food.
