Land O’Frost provides relief supplies to Hurricane Harvey victims in Houston
Land O’Frost Inc., one of the nation’s best-selling brands of pre-sliced, pre-packaged lunchmeats and a producer of specialty sausage products, teamed up with several community organizations to collect and deliver non-perishable food items, clothing, toiletries and school supplies to Houston residents affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Throughout the Labor Day holiday weekend, Land O’Frost, the Hinsdale Covenant Church and Monroe Elementary School in Hinsdale collected hundreds of supplies from community members and worked with volunteers to package individual bins with essential items including new bath towels, washcloths, socks, underwear toiletries and school supplies. Once the bins were assembled, volunteers completely filled a Land O’Frost trailer truck that transported all of the items to Houston.
“Our hearts go out to all of those affected by the unprecedented impact by Hurricane Harvey,” said David Van Eekeren, President and CEO at Land O’Frost. “It’s times like these that we are reminded of the importance of coming together and supporting each other. On Wednesday, September 6, the filled Land O’Frost truck departed from the Hinsdale Covenant Church and headed to Houston to deliver the individual bins to the Centro Cristiano Las Buenas Nuevas. The church was acting as a distribution center for supplies to be distributed throughout the community. The trust was loaded with more than 400 bins, with an estimated value of $40,000.
In addition to supplying the truck and volunteers to load it, the company provided its own donations and leveraged its logistical expertise to ensure that all of the donations were delivered quickly and efficiently on Thursday September 7.
Land O’Frost has an ongoing commitment to supporting families and local communities that have been affected by tragedies such as Hurricane Harvey. As future events such as Hurricane Irma unfold, the company is standing at the ready to assist those affected.
