Tyson launches “Just Add This” program

January 3, 2014

Many people set goals to improve their well-being in the new year. Tyson FoodsInc.,makers of Tyson Grilled & Ready fully cooked chicken and beef products, is helping people do just that with a few simple steps through its new “Just Add This” program. The program encourages people to make small adjustments to existing routines to form new habits that lead to a better, more healthful lifestyle. Now, through March anyone can join the “Just Add This” program at Facebook.com/GrilledAndReady by clicking on the Just Add Thistab. When consumers visit the tab, they will find motivational tips to help them reach their goals, along with daily recipes and good-for-you prizes.

The premise of the “Just Add This” program is simple – just add a better-for-you ingredient, like Tyson Grilled & Ready chicken, to a favorite salad or just add a 10 minute power walk to a daily routine and be on the way to a better lifestyle. The program offers guidance and tools to make smarter eating choices and identify ways to squeeze in some exercise, even for those people with busy schedules. When visiting the program tab, people will find simple tips, delicious recipes made with 100 percent natural Grilled & Ready chicken – most under 500 calories – and they can enter to win weekly prize giveaways, including a Trek Women's Road Bike, Lululemon gift card, Kindle Fire Tablet and more.

To show just how easy it is to make improvements to a daily routine, Tyson Foods has partnered with the experts at Fitness magazine. It’s not about making drastic changes; it’s all about making small adjustments, such as:

  • To power through a workout, just add super-motivating music to a playlist and crank it up during the last part of the session, which tends to be the most tiring. Music can increase the intensity of exercise, and at the same time decrease how difficult it feels.
  • To shop smarter at the supermarket, just add a healthy snack like a piece of string cheese and an apple before hitting the store. Hungry shoppers buy 45 percent more high-calorie foods than shoppers who aren't hungry.

“Helping people reinforce changes they make in January to become long term habits is our goal; so we decided to run this program for three months instead of one month, as we’ve done in previous years,” said Dan Uskert, product manager for Tyson Foods. “We all have busy schedules that can make it difficult to eat well. By incorporating better food choices, such as 97 percent fat-free Grilled & Ready chicken, people can make effortless, healthy meals at home, even when pressed for time.”

With this program Tyson Foods is also giving consumers an opportunity to share how they’ve been making smarter food choices in 2014. It is inviting people to submit a recipe that they improved by just adding Grilled & Ready chicken - or by taking an existing recipe that is made with Grilled & Ready chicken and adding a good-for-you ingredient. Submissions will be accepted through the program’s Facebook page between February 17 and March 17, 2014. One winner will receive an all-expense-paid weekend getaway to a Taste of Home Cooking School where they will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their recipes to other cooks.

Grilled & Ready frozen products are conveniently packaged in re-sealable space-saving bags. This allows home cooks to use what they need to create delicious meals in minutes, while the rest stays fresh for the next quick-fix dish.

The frozen line includes chicken breast strips, chicken breast fillets, fajita chicken breast strips, sweet Asian chicken thighs, chicken breast chunks, oven-roasted diced chicken breast, Southwestern chicken breast strips and seasoned steak strips. The refrigerated line includes smaller sizes of all these products, with an additional flavor of honey BBQ seasoned chicken breast strips also available.
