Muller delivers ‘Peace Of Mind On A Pallet’ at Pack Expo 2015

By Industry News
October 2, 2015

Muller, a leading manufacturer of both innovative equipment and material load containment solutions, is helping attendees reach greater peace of mind on a pallet at PACK EXPO 2015 in Las Vegas, NV with sister company Loveshaw in Booth #C-2400. Attendees to the booth can learn about the latest solutions for properly securing pallets and get answers to their most challenging applications. Proving its product breadth, Muller will have on display two of its most unique solutions: Lock N’ Pop, a unique cohesive that does not harm packaging surfaces and Yellow Jacket, an orbital stretch wrapper that secures loads to the pallet while it remains on the forklift.

“Muller is backed by some truly amazing solutions that set us apart from the competition,” says Neil Weisensel, Brand and Marketing Director, Muller. “We are showcasing Lock N’ Pop and Yellow Jacket at PACK EXPO to highlight some of our more unique capabilities and give attendees a look into innovative ways to effectively secure pallet loads.”

Lock N’ Pop is a water-based cohesive that is stronger than stretch wrap alone and is cold applied making it safer than hot melt. It does not leave a sticky residue or harm packaging surfaces when unstacking/popping product apart. The cohesive can be applied with or without Lock N’ Pop equipment-which is compact, inexpensive, and virtually maintenance free. Unlike solvent or latex based materials that may be hazardous or difficult to clean and maintain, Lock N’ Pop solutions are completely water-soluble, and require minimal maintenance on application equipment. Formulated with FDA approved ingredients, the cohesive can be applied to ambient as well as refrigerated or frozen goods.

“Lock N’ Pop is ideal for anyone looking to reduce film, improve productivity and maximize load containment,” says Weisensel.

It allows for heavy reductions in traditional packaging-- stretch film, slip sheets, dunnage bags, corner boards and more can be virtually eliminated while maintaining proper load security. The ability to apply Lock N’ Pop’s cohesive very quickly with exact intermission cycles, has also made it an ideal solution in the beverage industry. In applications where shrink wrapped liter bottles must be stacked, the Lock N’ Pop solution is applied accurately over the bottle caps to ensure a safe and secure load. In addition, the cohesive does not interfere with automatic depalletizers and can be safely incorporated into most any operation.

Not to be outdone, Muller’s unique Yellow Jacket orbital stretch wrapper will also be on display. The Yellow Jacket is ideal for securing oversized, oddly shaped, palletized loads while the pallet remains on the forklift. The orbital wrapper is a horizontally positioned stretch wrap machine that moves around and under a load as the Yellow Jacket is manually advanced across the length of the load- significantly minimizing the time it takes to wrap a load by hand. Typically it takes 2 workers roughly 10 minutes to wrap a similar load by hand. Yellow Jacket can wrap a similar load with 1 worker in 1 minute. In addition to reducing the labor required to wrap by at least 50%, Yellow Jacket also eliminates the need for other strapping materials or expensive cartons to secure loads. Yellow Jacket’s customers have reported anywhere from $20,000-50,000 dollars saved annually in labor costs alone. Factor in the increase in product integrity, reduction in material use and other hidden costs, and the savings only increase. Tightly wrapped to the pallet, the load’s ability to shift, fall or slide in transit is nearly impossible.

Yellow Jacket’s Orbital Stretch Wrap is available in manual or semi-automatic. The 87M requires a footprint of only about 8’x9’ and runs on 110VAC- making it easy to install in most any plant. It also wraps a standard pallet size up to 68” diagonal.

“The Yellow Jacket was the first of its kind and built specifically to solve the need to properly secure complex fabrications, metal parts and loose assemblies on a pallet,” says Weisensel. “Over the years we’ve seen it successfully wrap everything from large pipes to motorized scooters.”

Beyond Lock N’ Pop and Yellow Jacket, attendees can also stop by to speak with a Muller representative about all other load containment solutions like its Lachenmeier stretch hood equipment and film, Octopus orbital stretch wrappers, hand film and much more.
