Fresh food production, packaging and product storage areas require strict cold temperature-controlled environments. COOL-FIT ABS Plus from GF Piping Systems is a complete pre-insulated plastic piping system for secondary cooling and refrigeration that meets the food processing industry's low temperature requirements. The energy efficient system is designed for conveying a wide range of water-based coolants including water, iced water, ice slurries, as well as salt, organic salt, glycol and alcohol solutions.

COOL-FIT features non-corroding, maintenance-free performance and can handle temperatures from -58°F to 104°F (-50 °C to +40 °C) at an operating pressure of up to 10 bar, and within diameters from ¾" to 12" (d25 to d315). The system has a core pipe made of ABS, which is insulated with high density polyurethane (PUR). The insulation is protected with the option for pre-insulated pipe and fittings with outer jackets in either black or white. The white version is ideal for hygienic environments while the black outer jacket's UV resistance makes it suitable for outdoor applications. (For larger diameter sizes in 10" to 18", a PE system will be available Qtr 2, 2019).

The COOL-FIT system is vapor tight and 100% water-tight.  These qualities prevent water absorption that can cause ice build-up, cracking, and corrosion typically found on metal type pipes.  Other outstanding features include a smooth surface, which prohibits both build-up of deposits from the fluid being conveyed and the reduction of flow in the pipe.

The pipe roughness factor for COOL-FIT ABS is 0.007 compared to steel's 0.02 (e.g., 6 times smoother). This feature improves the efficiency of the system in terms of reduced pressure loss, a performance that remains constant over its 25 year life-span.  Because the system is totally corrosion free, both externally and internally, minimal maintenance is required.

The incrustation proof system maintains its nominal bore throughout the installation life time, eliminating any increase in pressure drops and maintaining efficient low pumping energy requirements. The production of COOL-FIT ABS Plus also generates a much lower CO2 footprint than any other metal production - from 40% to 60% lower, depending on the type of metal.
