Hormel Foods Corp. reported fiscal 2011 second quarter net earnings of $109.6 million, up 20 percent from adjusted net earnings of $91.3 million a year earlier.

Hormel Foods Corp. is expanding its corporate headquarters in Austin. The maker of Spam and other prepared foods broke ground on the expansion Monday, reports the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Hormel Foods Corp. announced the release of its 2010 Hormel Foods Corporate Responsibility Report, available online at www.hormelfoods.com/csr. Among other successes, the company achieved its water use goal one year early, reducing water use by 30 million gallons since 2009. The report is self-declared Application Level A as confirmed by the Global Reporting Initiative.

Hormel Foods Corp. recently awarded 65 suppliers with a 2010 Spirit of Excellence Award for their roles in the company’s continuous improvement process throughout the past year.

Hormel Foods Corp. announced that Scott Aakre has been named vice president of corporate innovation and new product development and Whitney Velasco-Aznar is joining the company and assuming Aakre’s previous position as vice president of marketing for Grocery Products.
