Report: Applegate Farms exploring sale

A report in the Wall Street Journal (subscription required) states that Applegate Farms is exploring selling the company. According to sources, the closely held private company has hired Goldman Sachs to assist with a sale, which could net upwards of $500 million.

The Journal notes that several meat companies have expressed interest in a potential acquisition, but no companies were named.
