A free Niche Meat Processor Assistance Network webinar in collaboration with Animal Welfare Approved has been announced. It will take place on June 17, 2015 at 10 am PST / 1 pm EST for one hour.All NMPAN webinars are free and open to the public.
During this webinar, viewers will learn about humane handling practices at the processing plant. Speakers Anna Bassett and Tim Holmes of Animal Welfare Approved will discuss steps producers and processors can take to ensure humane treatment and how animal handling impacts meat quality. Bassett and Holmes, two of Animal Welfare Approved's humane handling experts, will cover the research that backs their technical information and slaughter standards as well as their Animal Welfare Officer and Poultry Welfare Officer courses.
The Animal Welfare Approved program audits and certifies family farms that utilize high-welfare methods of farming, on pasture or range.
