Interstate Warehousing, Inc. has chosen Anderson, Indiana as the home of its newest cold storage warehouse facility. The project was announced at a ceremonial groundbreaking at the property where the facility will be built, located at 4447 S. 400 W, Anderson, IN. Phase I of the project will be a 250,000 square foot facility and will be built by Tippmann Construction, with site work scheduled to begin in December. The 76-acre site leaves room for potential maximum build of more than 1,000,000 square feet as the facility continues to grow.
Interstate Warehousing, a Tippmann Group company, already has a strong presence in Indiana, with corporate offices in Fort Wayne, and 2 other cold storage facilities in the Indianapolis area. The company owns and operates more than 100 million cubic feet of temperature controlled warehouse space around the country, making Interstate Warehousing the 6th largest public refrigerated warehouse company in the United States.
“We chose Anderson, IN because it was a good strategic fit for our business,” said John Tippmann, Jr., President of Tippmann Group / Interstate Warehousing. “This new location will provide us with additional opportunities to expand our customer base, and continue to grow our company.”
The project is a $30 million capital investment, and will bring approximately 60 jobs to Anderson after the building is completed in the 3rd quarter of 2018. The facility will be a multi-temperature storage warehouse with approximately 30,000 pallet positions and state of the art equipment featuring some of the newest technology in the industry.
“We are proud that Interstate Warehousing has chosen Anderson in which to expand and build their new facility”, said Anderson Mayor Thomas Broderick, Jr. “This new project will allow for continual growth of Anderson’s tax base while creating new good paying jobs for our community.”
In addition to the company’s investment, the City of Anderson is providing a 7 year 60% tax abatement as an incentive to the company.
