The Kane Beef processing plant in Corpus Christi, Texas, was reopened after being shut down last week. It had been found that the plant had been discharging unauthorized waste into the city’s wastewater system. After an inspection by city officials, the plant was reopened on Monday, January 21 after an inspection by city officials.

According to the Caller Times, the company had cleaned enough to free up "capacity in their units," which means they are able to operate within the city's wastewater system, said John Byrum, assistant direct of utilities/wastewater.

The line was shut down on Thursday, January 17 when a city inspection found Kane Beef was discharging unauthorized waste into the Corpus Cristi wastewater system, to the extent that it could cause damage to some of its public treatment works.
