A Newly Weds Foods facility in Chicago’s Northwest Side was destroyed in a fire on April 2. There were no injuries, as the employees all evacuated safely.

Newly Weds Foods is an ingredient supplier, with 26 manufacturing facilities around the world.  It supplies food coatings, seasoning systems and functional ingredients to the food industry, among other capabilities.

According to WGN, the fire started in a cooking area where bread crumbs and cooking oil were present. It quickly spread through the wooden roof. The building’s offices were not damaged, but the cooking area was destroyed and the roof collapsed.
