Mulay’s celebrates new “FREE FROM” allergen certification

Mulay's Inc. (www.mulays.com) has announced its new FREE FROM Allergen Certification, the first ever meat company to achieve this prestigious accreditation.

This spring the company completed the 3rd party audit by Kitchens with Confidence officially certifying its products Free From the "Big 8" allergens. The stringent requirements of the audit examined not only recipes and ingredients but included 3rd party sourcing, an onsite inspection of Mulay's production facilities and require ongoing testing. The audit process was comprehensive, covering 20 main components of production with over 100 specific, critical control points and included the review of all policies, procedures, and operations ensuring safe, allergen-free manufacturing practices without the possibility of cross contamination.

The "Big 8" Allergens responsible for 90% of all food allergy reactions today include wheat, milk, eggs, soy, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, and shellfish. These allergens are among some the most common ingredients you'll find at home, in restaurants, and at the store. According to FARE, (Food Allergy Research & Education) researchers estimate up to 15 million Americans have food allergies, a number that is increasing each year. Anaphylaxis is a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction triggered by the body's immune system, leading to over 300,000 ER visits every year!

Along with their new FREE FROM Certification, Mulay's is proud and excited to introduce their NEW Allergen Free Meatball. These special meatballs are made without gluten, dairy, or eggs. "The smell of juicy, tender meatballs cooking on the stove reminds me of family gatherings at my grandparents. Now everyone, even those with special dietary restrictions, can enjoy delicious meatballs," says Loree Mulay Weisman, President, and Co-Founder of Mulay's.
