The Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) has announced its Executive Committee for 2007. They are: James Anderson, Marlen Research Corp., chairman; Randy Spahr, Packaging Machines International Inc., vice chairman; Robert Risley, Materials Handling Systems Inc., immediate past chairman; Charles Yuska, PMMI, president. The association has also elected four new members to its Board of Directors, to serve four-year terms. They are: Glenn Edginton, All-Fill Inc.; Edward Gerri, Digital Design Inc.; Joergen Olsson, Thermo Electron Corp.; and Glenn Siegele, Omega Design Corp.

Multisorb Technologies, a manufacturer of sorbent, desiccant and oxygen-absorbing technologies, has named John Solomon market leader, specialty foods. He will be responsible for expanding the company’s business in diverse food packaging markets, including organics and natural foods. He has more than 15 years of experience in the packaging industry.

DuPont Qualicon has named Siqun Wang, M.D., Ph.D., as global director of research and development. He is responsible for overseeing research, new product development and validation programs for DuPont Qualicon. He has been with the company since 2004 and has served as business development manager, working with food companies and regulatory agencies worldwide to identify new technologies and business opportunities.

Dan Waters has joined West Liberty Foods as vice president and general counsel. He worked for 17 years in an Iowa law firm, specializing in agribusiness organizations and transaction. He has served as West Liberty’s legal counsel since 1996.

Americold has appointed Michael Murray as executive vice president of sales. He has formerly worked for Pilgrim’s Pride, Cargill, Tyson Foods and Procter & Gamble during his career. Americold is a third-party supplier of temperature-controlled supply-chain solutions, with 103 facilities nationwide.

Bunzl Distribution has promoted Mark Sementelli to executive vice president, global sourcing. His responsibilities will include advancing Bunzl Group’s global procurement strategy and ensuring effective import processes are further developed and implemented. Earl Engleman has been promoted to Sememtelli’s previous position of senior vice president – corporate strategic sourcing. He has been with the company since 1997.
