Are the federally mandated safe-handling warnings present on every raw animal product outdated?

For as long as the food industry has been processing raw animal products, many of those products could be sold to consumers despite the presence of many pathogens.

Unfortunately, while recalls relating pathogens have declined, the overall number of industry recalls seems to be increasing.

So far, this year, there has not been a single recall of raw ground beef for the presence of E. coli O157:H7 or non O157 STECs (“E. coli”). 

For nearly 15 years, I have helped meat processors deal with customer complaints. And, yes, I have probably “seen it all.”
