Symrise addresses Millennial consumer demand for organic cross-category foods and beverages
Today, consumers want more natural and organic solutions when shopping for themselves and their families. In response to this increasing demand, Symrise announced the launch of a new collection of organic-certified and non-GMO flavors under the umbrella of Code of Nature, their new positioning that offers taste solution platforms to food and beverage brands that want to meet the demand for more nutritious food while still delivering on flavor to an audience looking for healthier options on the shelves.
"Millennials are the fastest-growing demographic of consumers who want what’s best not only for themselves but their families, too. So, when it comes to foods and beverages, organics are on the top of their grocery lists," explains Emmanuel Laroche, Vice President Marketing & Consumer Insights and Global Marketing Leader for Symrise.
Currently, Millennial parents constitute 52% of all parents buying organics for their households. Due in part to the trend of healthy indulgence by Millennial consumers, the organic snack market alone is projected to grow over 60%, or $745 million, between 2016 and 2021. This category of consumers is turning to organics in order to find healthy options for the whole family across all food and beverage categories that taste better and have a greater nutritional value than their non-organic counterparts. By developing Certified Organic flavors across a spectrum of traditional flavor profiles, Symrise is able to help satisfy Millennial demand for better-for-you (BFY) choices with organic and sustainable ingredients that fit the needs of growing families concerned with leading a healthy lifestyle.
Symrise selects only natural ingredients and sustainable sources of organic raw materials carefully with an eye toward integrity and sustainability, without the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, GMOs, radiation, antibiotics or growth hormones. There's a difference that customers can taste, see, and feel. All three production locations – Teterboro, NJ; Branchburg, NJ; and Elyria, OH – were certified in December 2017 for production of organic flavors by Quality Assurance International (QAI) to meet international (IFOAM) standards of organic accreditation. This assures that customers receive traceable and reliable products from origin to the end product.
“This collection of organic flavors meets all the requirements of QAI certification and gives our consumers peace of mind that they are doing right for themselves and their families,” said Mr. Laroche. “The cross category and cross application opportunities of this new organic line add to Symrise’s diverse and continuously growing library of organic-certified and GMO-project verified flavors.”
Symrise’s Code of Nature marks a new platform in their offerings of nutritious, high-powered and flavorful taste solutions for foods and beverages without compromising on quality to appeal to the health and environmentally conscious consumer. And, with this new line of flavors, Symrise can provide food and beverage manufacturers with clean, organic flavor ingredients that are as simple and nutritious as nature intended.
