Tommy Myers, vice president for supply chain for Wayne Farms LLC, was recently honored for his service as the 2007-2008 Chairman of the Georgia Poultry Federation.

The ceremony took place at Brasstown Valley Resort in Young Harris, Ga. where Executive Director Abit Massey presented Myers with a plaque and portrait commemorating his service.

During his tenure with the organization, Myers has worked on a host of projects in support of the industry including cooperative efforts with groups such as the Georgia Poultry Laboratory Network, the University of Georgia and Georgia Institute of Technology; continuous activity on the state water plan; and the creation of a Processor Council to assume and expand on the work of the Georgia Poultry Processors Association.

“It has been a pleasure to serve as Chairman of the Georgia Poultry Federation,” said Myers. “I was given the opportunity to participate in a multitude of successful projects vital to the poultry industry. I now leave the position in very capable hands and look forward to the continued success of this important organization.”

The Gainesville-based Georgia Poultry Federation represents all segments of Georgia's poultry industry. Poultry is the largest segment of agriculture and agribusiness in Georgia—the number one poultry state in the nation.
