In an effort to expand the company’s product line and grow North American market share, Dapec Inc. has restructured its management team. Jack Hazenbroek, founder of Systemate Numafa B.V., has been named president of Dapec, and Scott Hazenbroek has been named vice president. Dapec is the U.S. distributor of Systemate Numafa poultry and food processing equipment. In addition, J.C. Verel has been named national sales manager of Dapec. Verel, who previously was national account manager and responsible for sales in the southern United States west of the Mississippi, will oversee the Dapec sales force.
Risco USA has named Steve Silva West Coast sales manager. Silva joins the company after a successful career in the automotive industry and will manage the territory, which includes California, Oregon, and Washington, from his home in Phoenix, AZ.
Silliker Inc. has named Craig Scorah division vice president of operations. He will direct the organization’s California, Texas, and Georgia laboratories. In addition, Mamatha Whitwell has been appointed laboratory director of its Grand Prairie, TX, testing facility. She is responsible for managing scientific operations, quality systems, and staff to help food companies in the Southwest assure the safety and quality of their products.

Smurfit-Stone Container Co. has announced the promotion of five financial executives to the rank of vice president. The executives are: Roger Becker, vice president, taxes; Jim Chou, vice president and controller for the Containerboard Mill division; Ken Kushibab, vice president and controller for the Consumer Packaging division; Larry Quatmann, vice president and controller for the Corrugated Container division, and Jean Wyse, vice president, enterprise process integration.
The North American Bison Cooperative has named Michael J. Rutt vice president of sales for the Central Region of the United States. He will manage branded sales with customers and ensure the company is meeting customers’ specific needs. “My goals with NABC are to increase product and brand awareness and interest; develop a retail and broker network, and target national chains for product placement and TenderBison™ promotion,” he said.
Susan Curran has been promoted to director of information technologies for Spencer Technologies, a provider of turnkey technology implementation and support services to retailers. She will direct all of Spencer’s IT operations, including managing the company’s data/telecommunications infrastructure, software, and hardware technology.
The Meat Industry Suppliers Alliance has elected a new slate of officers as follows: Adam Anderson, Marlen Research Corp., immediate past chairman; David Pierce, Tipper Tie, chairman, and Chris Mason, AEW-Thurne, vice chairman. Scott Gregory of Bettcher Industries was voted on as a new MISA board member to fill the seat vacated by Jan Gaydos of Stein/DSI, who went off the board after completing his term as immediate past president.
