The 2011 Seafood Excellence Awards winners were announced at the International Boston Seafood Show. St. James Smokehouse Inc. won the “Best New Retail” award for their St. James Scotch Reserve Smoked Salmon Infused with Hendrick’s Scottish Gin & Tonic, and Dish Hospitality Pvt Ltd. won the “Best New Foodservice” award for their Prawn Lollipop. 

Winners were selected from a group of finalists during a live judging by a panel of seafood buyers and experts from the retail and foodservice industries. This year’s judges included Joe Koran, senior category development manager, Seafood for Foodbuy; Ken Henessey, seafood category manager, Hannaford & Sweetbay Supermakets; and Will Wadsworth, culinary development chef, Mitchell’s Fish Market.

Finalists were previously selected through a screening of products participating in the 2011 International Boston Seafood Show New Product Showcase. The New Product Showcase features seafood products, condiments and culinary dishes launched in the past year by exhibiting companies.

The Seafood Excellence Awards serve to recognize the product leaders in the North American seafood market.

Co-located with Seafood Processing America, the International Boston Seafood Show is North America’s largest seafood trade event, drawing 17,000 buyers and sellers from more than 90 countries and over 900 exhibiting companies.
