The American Meat Institute (AMI) announced today that Capitol Hill veteran Emily Sanders has joined the Institute as senior director of legislative affairs. In her position, Sanders will report to AMI Senior Vice President of Legislative of Affairs Dale Nellor.

Previously, Sanders worked for more than two years on the staff of the Committee on the Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Policy and Enforcement, leading whip operations for key legislation and handling all efforts on Department of Homeland Security appropriations. Sanders has additional Capitol Hill experience having served as a senior policy advisor and executive director of the  Immigration Reform Caucus for Representative Brian Bilbray (R-CA), and as a senior legislative assistant to Representative F. James Sensenbrenner (R-WI). Sanders also has campaign consulting experience, educating candidates on policy issues ranging from homeland security, transportation, the judiciary, and trade.

She is a native of Texas and received her bachelor of arts in political science from the University of Arkansas.
