Kayem announces return of “Create the Next Fenway Frank” contest

By Industry News
June 4, 2014

Calling all Fenway Frank and baseball fans! For the second year in a row, Kayem, the official frank and sausage of the Boston Red Sox and Fenway Park, is inviting fans to step up to the plate and take a swing at creating the next Fenway Frank. Kayem’s “Create the Next Fenway Frank” contest gives fans throughout the country the unique opportunity to become part of Fenway Park history by creating a Fenway Frank featuring their own favorite combination of toppings. The winning dog will be announced on National Hot Dog Day, July 23, and will be served at Red Sox home games at Fenway Park beginning on July 28.

Fans can enter the “Create the Next Fenway Frank” contest by visiting facebook.com/kayemfranks through June 20. Fans will start with a classic Kayem Fenway Frank and New England Style bun, and can add toppings and dressings to make their signature creation.

On July 1, Kayem will present its lineup of the top five franks, as selected by Kayem, and Facebook fans will have the chance to vote for their favorite. The two finalists will be brought to Boston to present their franks to hundreds of people at a special free lunchtime celebration at the Landing at Long Wharf on National Hot Dog Day, July 23. At this event, a Red Sox icon will announce the grand prize winner, whose winning recipe will be honored on-field prior to the start of the Red Sox game versus Toronto on Monday, July 28. In addition to the honor and bragging rights of having their winning dog sold within Fenway Park throughout the summer, the grand prize winner will also receive a $1,000 Cash Gift Card.  The runner up will receive a $500 Cash Gift Card.

Peter Leibowitz of Hudson, Massachusetts won the 2013 contest for his “Big Puppi,” featuring a Kayem All Beef Fenway Frank topped with spicy ketchup, yellow mustard, sautéed onions, cheese and potato sticks.

According to Bob Kufferman, Senior Brand Manager for Kayem Foods, “As the makers of the Fenway Frank, we know that enjoying a delicious hot dog while watching the game at the park is a very special and memorable experience for millions of fans, which is why we’re excited to offer fans once again the opportunity to Create the Next Fenway Frank for thousands of Red Sox fans to enjoy all summer long. The 2013 contest was a tremendous success and we look forward to seeing new and unique creations this year. We want to thank the Red Sox and Aramark for offering die-hard fans this special opportunity once again.”

This contest is open to all US residents 18 years of age or older.  One entry per person.  No purchase required, purchasing does not improve your chance of winning.  Contestants will be selected based on their creativity and marketability.  For additional terms and conditions related to Kayem’s “Create the Next Fenway Frank” giveaway, please visit facebook.com/kayemfranks.
