Schmacon, beef’s answer to bacon, launches Kickstarter campaign March 9, 2015
Schmacon, smoked and glazed beef slices, will launch its Kickstarter campaign March 9, 2015 to secure funding before launching in retail locations later this year. An innovative alternative to traditional pork bacon, Schmacon is lower in sodium, calories and fat, inspired by its Inventor Howard Bender’s deli roots. The Schmacon Kickstarter video explains how the funds raised will be utilized, including an informative, imaginative and eye-catching packaging design to get Schmacon ready for retail sale.
By participating in the Schmacon Kickstarter campaign, fans can receive rewards such as retail packages, sandwich parties or even a five-course Schmacon gourmet meal prepared by Bender. Fans who sign on to support Schmacon from the beginning will receive additional early bird rewards and bonus specials.
“Over the past three years, we have been perfecting the recipe and technique to make the innovative, smoky and sweet Schmacon we have today. We have created an all-natural and uncured beef product and we want to bring it to grocery stores as soon as possible," says Bender. “We are bringing something new to the retail grocery market that we know consumers are going to love. We are excited for old and new fans to become a part of food history with Schmacon and this Kickstarter campaign serves as a coming out party to celebrate Schmacon’s introduction into stores.”
Until now, Schmacon has been enjoyed at bacon and beef festivals and select restaurants and the product is currently available in select restaurants and nearly 12,000 fans on Facebook that are looking forward to the product hitting the shelves.
